The Challenge
A shipping business needed buy and sell prices calculated dynamically per job, with room for manual overrides — but only by authorized staff, and standard Business Central costing could not express those rules.
Shipping pricing is rarely a fixed number. Buy and sell costs shift by route, job, and conditions, and staff sometimes need to override the calculated figure — but letting just anyone change a price is how margins quietly leak away. The client needed dynamic costing with controlled, authorized overrides.
What we built
We built a custom cost-calculation engine inside Business Central that computes buy and sell pricing dynamically, allows manual overrides where the business needs them, and locks those overrides down to authorized users only.
